Crossing Borders is heading out in January, for a month, to South Africa and we need a cinematographer to capture the trip for that episode. While this is a month long position, it may turn into a longer one (up to a year), traveling to multiple countries; if the entire project gets funded. We're looking for a woman to fill this position, as that's what the whole show and project are about- supporting women in film and throughout the world; who has a love for travel (or strong interest if they haven't been able to travel much yet), is adventurous, and meshes well with the host Becki. After all, we could be spending up to a year together!
Pay
Currently, this position is unpaid, but I am actively working on changing that. However, the whole month long trip will be covered for you, minus any souvenirs you'd like to purchase. Your pre-trip vaccines, travel insurance, and any visas required will all also be taken care of. Equipment is also provided, though if you have equipment you'd like to use we can discuss that as well.
Requirements
-Currently have a passport good through October 2022 (6 months after we'd leave South Africa)
-Have a sense of adventure as we'll be heading to both remote locations as well as busy built-up cities, hiking mountains and volcanoes, swimming, cage diving with sharks and more the more places we head to.
-A mostly to completely outgoing personality as we'll be talking to and interacting with people in communities, potentially all over the world.
-An interest in other people and other cultures while maintaining respect and appreciation for them
-Must be able to handle change, especially change that may happen suddenly and unexpectedly at the last minute. Travel is not set in stone, especially in the world we live in right now where our plans could be turned upside down without any notice. The ability to go with the flow is crucial
-Can have any level of experience; the decision will be based on may factors such as your style of cinematography, personality, excitement or passion for travel as well as for a project like Crossing Borders, your creativity with your shots etc.
-Comfortable with being abroad for a month at least, possibly a year (which we can discuss more when that becomes a reality).
